Abstract
schools. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive quantitative approach and thematic synthesis technique. A total of 15 articles published between 2021 and 2025 were analyzed, with 7 selected for in-depth examination. The results show that picture storybooks consistently improve students' reading interest and comprehension through the combination of engaging texts and visual illustrations. These findings indicate that visual media such as picture storybooks are an effective strategy for supporting the development of basic literacy skills in primary school students.
