More Than Just Independence: Synergy of Practical Life Skills, Cleanliness, and Responsibility in Early Childhood

Abstract


Abstrak: There is a lack of understanding of children about a healthy lifestyle, maintaining cleanliness and being responsible, because most children do not know the meaning and benefits behind these activities. This study aims to examine how sensory and practical life classes can prepare early childhood in forming independence, self-hygiene awareness, and responsibility attitudes. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The data collection technique was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews of early childhood learning activities. The results of the study show that: (1) The integration of practical life skills activities is consistently able to increase children's awareness of personal hygiene through daily routines such as washing hands and tidying up cutlery; (2) Sensory activities help improve children's fine motor focus and coordination; (3) An attitude of responsibility is formed through the involvement of children in activities that have real consequences, such as cleaning up spills or rearranging classrooms; (4) The role of teachers as active facilitators is very important in guiding children with a supportive and reflective approach. The implications of this study show the importance of learning design based on real life skills to build the foundation of children's character from an early age, as well as the need for teacher training in the effective application of this method
