Abstract
Abstract: Photography acts as a visual communication medium that conveys messages through images. In the process, it requires expertise to be able to apply basic techniques and photographic composition so that the resulting photos are more interesting and the visual message is conveyed. One of the Indonesian photographers who has interesting works is Nicoline Patricia Malina. Nicoline is famous for her fashion photography works, which are not only for editorial needs but also for campaigns. One of her campaign works is Project Puan, which received positive netizen responses to its visuals because it criticizes unrealistic beauty standards visualized in the form of photos. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach to analyze the visual photography in Project Puan's work, by applying a visual analysis approach to the elements and principles of visual photography. Data sources were taken from Nicole's Instagram platform with the aim of data originality. The results of this study indicate that Project Puan has visual elements and principles in photography, including the dominant color brown which symbolizes strength and honor, softlight lighting with artificial light and the direction of frontlight and sidelight, eye level angle, the division of the photo plane rule of thirds and symmetry, the balance is symmetry, asymmetry and equality, unity with the approach of similarity, resemblance and attachment, the rhythm of repetition and transition, overall the proportions are ideal, the dominance of some advantages and some abnormalities, and the simplicity is dominantly fulfilled but some works have not been fulfilled.
