DEVELOPMENT OF JEPIN TRADITIONAL DANCE REFERENCE BOOK FOR THE LITERACY MALAY ART

Abstract

Jepin Langkah Penghibur Pengantin is one of the traditional Malay dance from Pontianak city,this dance has been officially designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTB) in the historical study center by the Education and Culture Office of Kubu Raya Regency in 2020. This dance still exists among students of Art Education Study Program because it is used as lecture teaching materials. However, this dance among the general public because many do not know about the existence of this dance. Apart from that, the absence of packaging of this dance in the form of a reference book makes its presence only textually enjoyable, but contextually it does not exist. Dancers and performers tend to transfer only things that are realistic (movement, music, costumes, make-up, floor patterns) to the next generation, so that those that are contextual (history, function, meaning, and content of values) in dance it is poorly understood. This research will raise the Jepin Dance Entertainer of the Bride to become a research object which will be processed into a product that can be used to add to literature on the study of West Kalimantan Malay art tradition. The researcher modified the Borg and Gall development research procedures, namely information gathering, compiling the initial product, expert evaluation, group trials, revisions and the final product. The research subjects are teachers, practitioners, and students. From the media expert validation, 90% results were obtained, from Jepin dance experts, 90.84% results were obtained, so that the product was declared very valid and could be used, small group trial results obtained 94.25% results, and large group trial results obtained 92.33% results.
