PENERAPAN BERBAGAI METODE DISKUSI DALAM PEMBELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN KEWARGANEGARAAN (PKN) UNTUK MEMBANGUN KARAKTER MAHASISWA

Abstract


Learning Citizenship Education ( Civics ) in Higher Education already arranged in a manner juridical that is through Undang – Undang No. 20 Tahun 2003 tentang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional (Sisdiknas) at pasal 37. This study aims to shape participant educate them to become human beings who have a sense of nationality and love homeland . Principles education in development ethics , responsibility answer , and value (value) as well character in the participants educate must held . In the learning process, students are expected to participate fully by discussing and conducting question and answer in class. It takes the participation of the audience, namely students to be able to understand the material. Therefore, an interesting Civics learning process can be carried out by applying various discussion methods including role play methods, problem solving, buzz groups, and other discussion methods. With a variety of learning discussion methods, it is expected to be able to make students more creative and innovative in delivering material. Then, it also has an impact on the character development of the students themselves. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection through field observations, interviews, and literature review. The research was conducted at UPT MPK Sriwijaya University by analyzing 4 classes of MPK Civics Education, from exact and non-exact class. The research findings reveal that the emergence of 18 student characters during learning is facilitated by the application of various discussion methods. Furthermore, the implementation of these discussion methods proves to be beneficial in promoting character education among students in Higher Education institutions, particularly through the teaching of Civics and Citizenship Education. The application of various discussion methods also accelerates the development of students' character.
