Abstract

It's crucial to spread environmental literacy so that students can comprehend it, do scientific experiments, and come up with solutions to environmental concerns. It is advantageous to incorporate environmental concerns into the teaching of foreign languages. In content and language integrated learning (CLIL), which integrates language and content approaches, a second or foreign language is employed as a crucial instrument for knowledge construction in addition to being used as a language for learning instructions. This paper is the outcome of research that tries to describe how CLIL is applied in the study of German language through the selection of resources, texts, and assignments based on environmental literacy material. Questionnaires, observations, and focus group discussions were used to gather data, which were then evaluated using quantitative descriptive analysis. The findings indicate that using food-related text materials in CLIL lessons can help students learn about environmental issues like food expiration dates and recommended consumption times while also cutting down on food waste.
