Evaluasi Proses Seleksi dan Penilaian Kinerja Guru dalam Meningkatkan Mutu Pendidikan di SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Malang

Abstract


This study aims to evaluate the teacher selection process and performance assessment at
SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Malang City and its impact on education quality. A qualitative
descriptive method was used, with data collected through interviews with school
representatives. The findings indicate that the teacher selection process consists of several
stages, including administrative screening, teaching tests, psychological tests, and
interviews. This selection is considered effective as it assesses candidates’ dedication,
creativity, and concern for students, which are crucial in private schools. Teacher
performance assessment is conducted twice a year, evaluating aspects such as discipline,
student engagement, peer interaction, and student feedback through questionnaires.
However, challenges arise as not all aspects can be fully assessed. To improve the
effectiveness of selection and performance evaluation, the school aims to develop a more
systematic assessment instrument and encourage professional development through the
Merdeka Belajar approach and Project-Based Learning. These improvements are expected to
enhance the overall quality of education in the school.
