The Dynamics of The Economic Life of Pottery Craftsmen in Precet Hamlet, Plumpungrejo Village, Kademangan Subdistrict, Blitar District

Abstract


Natural resources that are utilized by the community as raw materials for production in the industry are no exception to the pottery craft industry. One of them is the pottery industry in Precet hamlet, where the majority of the population works as pottery craftsmen. The number of craftsmen in this village is certainly a business competition. Therefore, the focus of this research is to analyze the dynamics of the economic life of Precet village pottery craftsmen, which includes economic motives, economic activities and financial management. The method used is descriptive research through a qualitative approach with a case study research type. Data collection techniques through interviews, participatory observation and documentation. The results obtained from this study are 1) the economic motives of Precet village pottery craftsmen are to fulfill the needs of life, preserve pottery crafts, motives to get awards and social motives; 2) Economic activities carried out by pottery craftsmen include pottery production activities that are still manual. Furthermore, direct and indirect distribution activities carried out by Precet hamlet pottery craftsmen. As for consumption activities carried out, namely buying consumer goods to meet needs; 3) business financial management has not been fully carried out by craftsmen. In addition, pottery artisans also save as part of personal financial management.
