Remittances and Nutrition: A Panel Study of Selected Developing Countries in Asia
Abstract
enrollment, and domestic credit to the private sector. The results show that remittances significantly reduce undernutrition, highlighting their role in improving household access to nutritious food and health services. Domestic credit also contributes significantly to lowering undernutrition, suggesting the importance of financial
inclusion. While other variables were not statistically significant, their directions align with development theory. The findings emphasize that remittances are not merely financial transfers but serve as tools for enhancing social welfare. This research provides
cross-country evidence and supports policy efforts to maximize the developmental impact of remittance inflows.
