Community and School Collaboration Model to Encourage Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors in Remote Areas

Abstract


Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berfokus pada pengembangan dan penerapan model kolaboratif yang melibatkan sekolah dan komunitas untuk meningkatkan penerapan Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) di daerah terpencil. Model ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan sekolah sebagai pusat edukasi dan agen perubahan yang dapat memobilisasi komunitas dalam penerapan PHBS. Kegiatan pengabdian telah dilaksanakan di beberapa sekolah terpencil dengan melibatkan siswa, guru, dan anggota komunitas dalam program intervensi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan perilaku terkait PHBS, baik di kalangan siswa maupun komunitas. Partisipasi komunitas juga menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan melalui program edukasi berbasis sekolah. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa model kolaboratif yang melibatkan sekolah sebagai pusat promosi kesehatan efektif dalam meningkatkan kesehatan masyarakat di daerah terpencil. Kegiatan pengabdian ini merekomendasikan agar adopsi model ini dilakukan secara lebih luas sebagai bagian dari kebijakan kesehatan dan pendidikan nasional.

Abstract

This community service focuses on the development and implementation of a collaborative model that involves schools and communities to enhance the practice of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) in remote areas. The model aims to empower schools as centers of education and agents of change that can mobilize communities in the implementation of PHBS. The community service activities have been conducted in several remote schools, involving students, teachers, and community members in the intervention program. The results of the activities show a significant increase in knowledge and behavior related to PHBS among both students and the community. Community participation also showed a significant increase through the school-based education program. These findings indicate that the collaborative model involving schools as health promotion centers is effective in improving public health in remote areas. This community service recommends that the adoption of this model be more widely implemented as part of national health and education policies.
