Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Sabun Padat Natural Lavender dan Tea Tree terhadap Bakteri Patogen Manusia Escherichia coli Penyakit Diare

Abstract


Infeksi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri patogen masih menjadi tantangan bagi manusia hingga saat ini, terutama diare. Diare merupakan infeksi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri patogen gram negatif yaitu Escherichia coli. Adapun upaya pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan agar terhindar dari diare adalah mencuci tangan dengan sabun. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri sabun padat natural lavender dan tea tree produksi UPT Laboratorium Herbal Materia Medica Batu terhadap bakteri patogen manusia yaitu E. coli. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan termasuk ke dalam penelitian eksperimen dengan tiga kali pengulangan (triplo). Metode Kirby Bauer atau disk diffusion diimplementasikan pada penelitian ini menggunakan paper disk atau kertas cakram berukuran 5 mm sehingga aktivitas antibakterinya dapat diketahui melalui diameter zona bening yang dihasilkan dan diukur dengan jangka sorong. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, diperoleh hasil bahwa sabun padat natural lavender dan tea tree dengan konsentrasi 5% dapat menghambat proliferasi E. coli dengan rata-rata diameter zona bening sebesar 9 mm dan 11 mm secara berturut-turut.
