Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Sabun Padat Natural Lavender dan Tea tree terhadap Salmonella typhi

Abstract


Salmonella typhi merupakan bakteri gram negatif berbentuk batang yang menyebabkan demam tifoid atau tifus. Bakteri ini menyerang saluran pencernaan akibat mengkonsumsi makanan dan minuman yang terkontaminasi dengan kotoran manusia. Sabun padat merupakan salah satu pembersih kulit yang dapat menjadi antibakteri dan mencegah masuknya bakteri berbahaya ke dalam tubuh. Minyak atsiri (essential oil) diketahui dapat menjadi kandungan antibakteri dalam sabun padat natural. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari sabun padat natural lavender dan tea tree yang merupakan sabun produksi Materia Medica, Batu dengan metode difusi cakram (uji Kirby-Bauer) menggunakan paper disk berdiameter 5 mm dan dihitung diameter zona hambatnya terhadap bakteri Salmonella typhi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan nilai rata-rata zona hambat sabun natural lavender dengan konsentrasi 5% adalah 10,84 mm sedangkan nilai rata-rata zona hambat sabun natural tea tree dengan konsentrasi 5% adalah 7,54 mm. Berdasarkan hasil rata-rata tersebut diketahui bahwa sabun padat natural lavender lebih efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Salmonella typhi dibandingkan sabun padat natural tea tree. Akan tetapi hasil tersebut masih tergolong lemah. Kata kunci: Salmonella typhi, sabun padat, lavender, tea tree, antibakteri
