PERBANDINGAN KINERJA STRUKTURAL BATA BERLUBANG VIETNAM (TCVN) DAN BATA MERAH SOLID INDONESIA (SNI): KAJIAN BERBASIS STANDAR DAN METODE PRODUKSI

Abstract

Brick production in Vietnam and Indonesia has evolved under different technological and regulatory contexts. Vietnam adopts industrial plastic extrusion systems formalized through TCVN standards, while Indonesia remains dominated by traditional manual production following SNI 15-2094-2000.This study aims to comparatively evaluate the structural performance of Vietnamese perforated bricks versus Indonesian solid red bricks across four parameters: compressive strength, flexural behavior, cracking resistance, and porosity. The study employs a conceptual-comparative approach through analysis of technical standards (TCVN 1450:2009, TCVN 6355:2009, and SNI 15-2094-2000), production method review (plastic extrusion vs. manual molding), and technical interpretation of structural test parameters without direct laboratory testing.Vietnamese bricks demonstrate superior performance predictability despite being perforated, with controlled compressive strength (M35–M125 ≈ 3.5–12.5 MPa), defined flexural behavior, better crack control through stress relief mechanisms, and stable porosity (water absorption ≤16%). Indonesian solid bricks show higher potential absolute strength but suffer from significant quality variations due to traditional kiln operations and inconsistent testing protocols.Vietnamese perforated bricks exhibit more predictable structural performance across compressive strength, flexural behavior, cracking, and porosity parameters compared to Indonesian solid red bricks, primarily attributed to plastic extrusion methods and rigorous standardized testing systems.
