Body Image pada Remaja Laki-Laki: Sebuah Studi Literatur

Abstract


Masa remaja ditandai dengan perubahan fisik dan perubahan sosial yang dapat memberikan dampak terhadap dirinya seperti perhatian terhadap tubuh secara berlebihan. Dalam hal ini, berkaitan dengan body image. Masalah body image tidak hanya dialami oleh remaja perempuan saja namun juga pada remaja laki-laki. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memaparkan body image remaja laki-laki. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu studi literatur. Studi literatur pada penelitian ini menggunakan 22 jurnal yang terdiri dari 11 jurnal internasional dan 11 jurnal nasional. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa persentase body image (citra tubuh) negatif remaja laki-laki masuk dalam kategori sedang. Faktor yang mempengaruhinya adalah persepsi individu, paparan media, pola asuh orangtua, komparasi sosial, dan faktor lingkungan eksternal seperti teman sebaya. Dampak dari permasalahan body image pada remaja diantaranya sulit untuk menyesuaikan diri, tingkat kepercayaan diri yang rendah, kecenderungan untuk obesitas semakin tinggi, dan berpengaruh terhadap kualitas hidup remaja. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan konseling kelompok, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), dan berolahraga secara rutin. Melihat masih banyaknya remaja laki-laki yang mengalami permasalahan body image diperlukan penanganan dari berbagai pihak khususnya sekolah dan orangtua.
