Abstract


Online media is a means of expressing one's point of view on something in the form of writing in the comments column. If they are not satisfied with the condition of a government or outside the government, whether in the social, economic or other spheres, netizens can easily express their dissatisfaction through social media. This indeed creates space for the public to foster democracy in the virtual realm. However, on the other hand it also presents a new problem. If problems arise, it can be said that freedom of expression on social media has exceeded ethical limits as Indonesian citizens who uphold the values of Pancasila. The latest issue regarding attacks on Microsoft accounts due to mentioning Indonesian netizens is the most disrespectful in Southeast Asia. The purpose of this study is to get a picture of Pancasila democracy that was built in the virtual realm in responding to the case of Microsoft account attacks. This study uses a content analysis method with a qualitative approach. The object of research is Microsoft's survey on the Digital Courtesy Index as of February 2021. The results of the study conclude that virtual democracy has increased the search and exchange of information, created public debate, created pro and contra groups, and has made Indonesian netizens aware of self-introspection by realizing that comments made The comments that have been written on the Microsoft account indirectly confirm that Indonesian netizens are not polite.
