Optimalisasi Crowdfunding Bagi Perkembangan Startup Muda di Indonesia

Abstract


The outbreak of COVID-19 as a global pandemic has an impact on the world economic slowdown. The IMF predicts that the world economy will experience a slowdown in 2020. To boost economic growth in the midst of pandemic, the government needs to change the direction of the Indonesian economy become a digital business. Startups have grown rapidly in Indonesia, where it is estimated that there are more than 900 local startups. Along with the increase in digital technology and information as well as the phenomenon of the startup business, the financial technology (fintech) industry is also developing in Indonesia. Fintech refers to the use of digital technology in providing various financial services to the public. One of the services from this fintech is crowdfunding. However, crowdfunding has not received much attention from the public due to several inhibiting factors. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method using literature study approach. Based on the method that has been carried out, we get the result that crowdfunding optimization that focuses on young startups can help the Indonesian economy rise. With sufficient capital, young startups can innovate and answer all obstacles in their developments. To implement the crowdfunding services, Indonesia need to use advanced countries as a reference so that it can run optimally in overcoming funding problems for young startups. These advanced countries have managed to take advantage of crowdfunding as sources to form many large startups. Young startups who have difficulty in capital can take advantage of crowdfunding as a source of funding. Crowdfunding does not burden young startups to have tangible assets, but rather can be a big idea that is an intangible asset. Indonesia also needs to reflect on the crowdfunding that has been successfully implemented in the advanced countries of the world. The development of crowdfunding for young startups can be done by observing, imitating and modifying policies in the country. In addition, all causes of crowdfunding ineffectiveness for young startups also need to be avoided in order to maximize the purpose of its implementation.
