Integrasi Mind Skills dan Self-Compassion untuk Menguatkan Karakter “Welas Asih” Konselor

Abstract


Konselor sebagai profesional helper sepatutnya memiliki kualifikasi dan kompetensi yang memadai.Kualifikasi dan kompetensi konselor bukan hanya terbatas pada penguasaan teori dan keterampilan menyelenggarakan layanan saja, melainkan juga sikap dasar konselor.Mind skills sebagai keterampilan internal menjadi pondasi konselor dalam bersikap, berperilaku, dan berkomunikasi.Mind skills dapat membantu konselor bersikap luwes, bijak, dan reflektif. Sikap konselor lain yang dapat mendukung layanan konseling profesional adalah self-compassion. Konselor dengan self-compassion yang baik akan bersikap terbuka, memahami, dan menerima diri apa adanya. Melalui integrasi mind skills dan self-compassion, konselor tidak menuntut kesempurnaan, senantiasa memiliki harapan dan kemauan untuk melakukan perbaikan, serta mampu berdamai dengan dirinya sendiri. Kedamaian tersebut dapat menguatkan karakter “welas asih” konselor, yang kemudian juga ditransfer dalam proses bantuan yang diberikan kepada konseli.
